Facts of Life //Cardboardwarriors List of Truths
Uncategorized May 14th, 2008 In an effort to avoid being overly preachy or sappy, I’ve decided to conduct a list of things I consider true. Whether you agree with them or not, I’d like to hear your own opinions. Maybe post some of your own truths? If I agree with them, maybe I’ll add them to the list.
As with all my posts, I mean no hostility and if I offend anybody in a way I deem serious (if you don’t like my use of the word thick, for example, I’ll probably pay you no mind.) like accidently coming off as racist I’ll be sure to edit it.
1. When you’re walking down a street at night after watching a horror movie , the streetlight in front of you/under you will go out when it’s most inconvenient.
2. You never get lucky when you need to. Ever.
3. “Everyone lower on the chain than me is an idiot and everyone above me has their head up their rear.” - 8bit theatre. The world is full of jerks, including ourselves.
4. Life is hard, and everything gets worse before it gets better. You just have to keep your head up and keep moving forward, no matter how tough. I myself am relatively sheltered and have led an easy life, but we all know this to be true. It seems the world is always rallying against you, but they aren’t, and there are always some sort of help on your side.
5. “As history has taught us, anybody can be killed.”- The Godfather Which is pretty weak; I wanted to live forever.
6.Animals aren’t people, but people are animals.
7. People aren’t evil, they just mistake it for happiness.
8. Heartbreak happens (but I wouldn’t know that from experience).
9. You need a good education to succeed in this world.
10. All advice is best taken with a grain of salt.
11. Contrary to popular opinion, words can hurt. Thinking before you open your mouth can get you far, and makes you look less like a thick moron. I’m speaking from experience.
12. The minds of children are relatively untainted, and folks who take that away from them need a swift kick in the pants.
13. Things are either fantastic or mundane, never inbetween.
14. If it’s tasty it is definately bad for you. Nutella is the exception. Nutella > you.
15. Karma happens. Learn from it.
16. Soldiers shooting at each other does NOT solve the world’s problems. :/
17. Celebrities are not things to worship. Who cares what they do?
18. Not even The Flash can outrun death. Everyone has their time. For example, when my grandfather passed away, I was very, very crushed because I never got to say goodbye… I’m glad he went out with his dignity though. I like to think that’s better than slowly dieing from old age and it’s syptoms, being an emotional burden on himself and the family.
19. It doesn’t matter who you’re talking to, life was better back when they were a kid.
20. Adoption is the greatest gift you can give an orphan.
21. The homeless are people. Open your hearts to someone who needs it.
22. Crying doesn’t make you any less of a man/woman. Everyone has a breaking point.
23. Individuality was gods gift to man, yet I still see people trying to fit in. Popularity is overrated- you only need a handful of friends. Everyone has their own opinion, so if someone disagrees with you don’t immediately begin to sling mud.
Say you like rap (eww. See? That’s an example of voicing your opinion!) and someone else likes Jazz, don’t take hostile action and don’t be baited into a stupid argument. It’s like arguing over whether apples or oranges is better.
24. Growing up is madatory, but growing up is optional.
25. Everyone is equal. If you judge people by their skin colour, ethnicity, etc. do the world a favour and never leave your house.

Great post…. As I responded to your teacher over at twitter…. You speak to universal truths. A tried and true way to becoming a super blogger. My favorite: #23.. We are all individuals and can find our way in this world.. but it does help to have a few friends and a mentor to help you through tough times.

This is an interesting way to look at your truth. It is an original way to show this. I actually agree with a lot of what you say. Do you think these views will change over time? What kinds of experiences or ideas that you might come into contact with would make you reconsider some of these things? Can truths change?

Will my views change over time? No doubt- I still have lots of growing up to do. I might someday change my opinion on karma: I see bad people doing bad things all of the time and they never get just des(s?)erts… Can truths change? Everyone has a different opinion on the truth, so truths can change and develop with their person.
And I’m sure I’ll find another example of a tasty healthy food, throwing off number 14.

Hey! Nice Blog! I really enjoyed reading about all those truths. It’s cool how you can have so many truths. I especially like the first one. Is that really true? I’ve never had that happen to me and i never want it to happen to me. Nice job!

I agree with all of what you said the reason why I thought that it was good is that you had ways of explaining what you said. Also you had good ways of saying something and people would be able to understand what you are trying to say. Good job I would like to read more of your future blogs.

Hey, I really like what you wrote. I completely agree with most, if not all, of the statements you made. You wrote about what you felt and really wrote it in a way that you could really relate and reach out to your audience. You really made me start to think of things that I hadn’t really paid much attention to before. I really liked it because you also stated why you feel the way you do. So I think you did a really good post! - Jhosselinne

WoW! Hey Brandon! Your blog was way impressive and i totally agree with most of them. Actually all of them. It’s amazing how even before i read your post I didnt really paid that attention to those type of topics but looking at it now, i actually think that all of it was pointed out as the truth. Great post !

Hey Brandon! I liked the post. I liked the #3 the best though. I found that all of the statements are true that you said. I like the last one also. The fact that you know people care aout racism and I know people care about racism makes a difference to me. Let’s face it. There will always be little jerks being a racist. I would like to find ways to stop it but the issue is too big for basically anyone. VERY VERY VERY AWESOME POST.

Brandon,
This is a really cool way to display your truths. When you wrote this, did you think of anything in your past that has to do with truth? I agree with most of your truths but some not. I still think this was an awesome post and I can see that your writing has improved. Great Job!

Hey Brandon, I completely agree with everything you said about truth. Except one part, where you said that nothing that bad has happened to you. in my life I have had a couple of bad times that if I had a choice I wouldn’t change because that makes me who I am today. one of those things happen to be that I have very frequent bladder infections so now my body became immune to the medicine so now it doesn’t work for me. So my doctor is sending me out of town to get it treated. but if that diddn’t happen I wouldn’t be me. I am not ashamed of what I’ve been through. I highly agree with everything you said. Great job on your post, your a great writer and you made it interesting to read.
